Voor de Suzuki Cup Asia stond vanavond het nationale team van Cambodja weer op het veld. Na een ontluisterende nederlaag tegen Singapore afgelopen vrijdag met 5-0 speelde het team nu tegen gastland Indonesië. De eerste helft was uiteraard voor Indonesië, al bleef het tot aan rust maar 1-0. De tweede helft was het defensieve verzet van Cambodja gebroken en konden de Indo’s uitlopen naar 4-0.
Grote man bij de Khmer was keeper S. Seiha. Hij behoedde zijn elftal voor een nog groter verlies. Maar na elke duik was weer verzorging nodig totdat hij twintig voor tijd toch maar uit zekerheid gewisseld werd…

Isn’t Seiha a good keeper but he’s prone to injuring himself every time he moves a muscle. Nice kid though. I met the team at their training center before they flew out for the competition and they’re a great bunch of youngsters. The coach is a thoroughly nice guy too. But they were never going to match up to their main opponents in this competition…Cambodian football simply isn’t in the same league yet!
